When you spent most of your life in a such a small country as The Bahamas, your perspective on life is often times shaped in terms of size. A country that is only a 13,940 sq km (5,382 sq mi) archipelago with some 700 islands and cays appears so expansive that the average Bahamian has probably only visited 2-3 of those islands in their lifetime because they are just so far apart. About 29 of these islands and cays are inhabited and I had the pleasure of visiting 17 of the most beautiful spots created by God. Though we are a small country, we our packed with varied Bahamian deliciousness.
The beauty of traveling is revealed in the lessons we learn, the varied cultures we experience and amazing foods we sample. When these experiences can be multiplied in diverse fashions, it makes a destination so much more than the amazing sights and scenes they offer. This was my experience visiting Spain this past weekend.
Some amazing sites include…
Within the city of Barcelona, there are many ‘neighborhoods’ representing different centuries of architectural wonderment with periods dating as far back as the first settlers, Roman colonists and as modern as works completed during the 1992 Olympic Games. Such diversity in the neighborhoods all firing at the same time beckoning a prolong stay to immerse oneself in a period in time. Besides the different areas in the city, consider the contrasting landscapes of mountains and marinas, highways and alleys, city lights and countryside.
